Richard Madden rose to acting prominence in 2011 for his portrayal of Robb Stark in the first three seasons of the fantasy drama series Game of Thrones. In 2018, he gained acclaim for his performance as a war veteran and Principal Protection Officer in the BBC thriller series Bodyguard, for which he won a Golden Globe Award.

Madden made his screen debut as a child actor and later began performing on stage whilst a student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In 2007, he toured with Shakespeare’s Globe company as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, a role he reprised in the West End in 2016. His other television and film credits include the lead role of Cosimo de’ Medici in the first season of the historical fiction series Medici (2016), Prince Kit in the romantic fantasy film Cinderella (2015), John Reid in the biopic Rocketman (2019), and a lieutenant in the epic war film 1917 (2019). His father has admitted his son would love a crack at the role of 007. At 34, he’s certainly the right age, but only time will tell……………………………

The Bodyguard (BBC Tv Series) 2018

This six-part political thriller tells the story of bodyguard David Budd, who is assigned to protect controversial British home secretary Julia Montague.

Budd is a war veteran and is deeply mistrustful of politicians, especially those who support the conflict in the Middle East. So, when he is tasked with protecting the Home Secretary, Budd finds himself “torn between his duty and his beliefs.”

Reconciling personal views may be at the forefront of the early episodes but as the series plays out, it soon becomes clear that the question of Budd’s loyalties is just the tip of the iceberg, as the show examines darker elements such as terrorism and corruption in the police and secret services.

The writer Jed Mercurio and his star were reportedly keen on a further series in the summer of 2019 but the pandemic puts matters on hold.
